DAY 76 – Cervantes

Good Morning Cervantes!

Low 7°c (45°F) – High 20°c (68°F)
95km

The overnight low may have said 7 but I swear it felt like -2.  It was so cold no-one wanted to get out of bed this morning and Miss Kitty was tucked up between us so high in the bed she was almost under the pillows.  She usually sleeps at the foot of the bed, but she is like a heat seeking missile on a cold night.

When we finally did drag ourselves out to brave the elements, have breakfast and get moving it turned out to be a really nice, mostly sunny, day.

Starting off with some of the points of interest in and around town including a few lookouts, we visited Lake Thetis and further south to Hangover Bay.  The Pinnacles are in this area as well but honestly we’ve never seen so many places that ban dogs in our entire trip as there are here.  Even though Kitty wouldn’t be getting out of the car at all, it’s not worth risking a hefty fine so we turned back and backtracked north to Jurien Bay which we had contemplated stopping at on the way down.  It’s easy to see why they call it the Turquoise Coast.  The colour of the ocean in this area is stunning when the sun is out.  We stopped to take quite a few photos here before heading back to Cervantes.

We had forgotten to refuel the car while we were out and so Shane went out again while I got things ready for dinner.  He arrived back at camp with a lobster for dinner – talk about spoil me!  We were in time to capture a splendid sunset and spend quite a few more hours sitting outside again through the evening.
