DAY 55 – Minilya Roadhouse

Good Morning Minilya!

Low 5°c (46°F) – High 26°c (77°F)

Due to not being able to get a site in Carnarvon until Wednesday night we had opted to stay at the roadhouse another day and get washing done which would give us a free day to sightsee around the Carnarvon area.  The morning started off with a sky full of clouds but they all cleared by mid morning and it ended up being a quite warm day with a perfect breeze so it was a restful day for all concerned once the chores were done.  Zero photos though.

The usual comings and goings of a caravan park and as always you just never know who you’ll get parked next to you.  On one side an elderly couple in a smallish motor home reversed in almost on top of our awning – there went the view, but in fairness the sites are pretty narrow and there wasn’t much of a view.  He decided on arrival that he needed to fill up his water tank and in the process ended up spraying water onto our mat.  No harm done, but then when they started to let water from their outlet go and it was flowing almost into our area as well we suggested he might like to attach his outlet hose and run it out the back as all the other vans were.

On the other side a man from the UK with his partner, both in their late 50’s, travelling with a hard floor camper trailer left us a little puzzled.  After only half erecting the canvas out she came from the car carrying a silver and black brocade doona/cover and after that neither of us saw her touch another thing until she sat down.  All the while he was unpacking and setting stuff up while she stood or sat and talked.  In the process she was telling me how wonderful he was and how clever he was and how he could do anything, he cooked, cleaned and just did whatever needed to be done.  Poor bugger probably had to!  At one stage as the sun came around to the side of the camper where they had been sitting, he suggested she might like to move around the back to where the shade currently was, to which she said yes, and then she stood, waited and watched as he moved the table and 2 chairs and promptly went over and sat on her chair.

He then proceeded to tell us how he goes to Broome every year and spends 3 months just lying on the beach every single day and does nothing else.  I can’t even comprehend a week of just lying on the beach – I would be bored out of my brain for 3 months!!!!!  That’s a no from us.  He then started to be a little mean to his partner, get way too much into my personal space, and also make fun of his other next door neighbour for the fact that he had been watching a series of DVD’s on his trip and stating that all American TV and movies were crap and not worth watching.  I’ve never been a fan of anyone who tries to take other people’s pleasure from them by making fun of their personal choices, and the poor man was obviously a little put out, and I think that was about the time we kept to our side of the van.
