DAY 26 – Darwin

Good Morning Darwin!

Low 24°c (75°F) – High 33°c (91°F)
593km

Today is a day out for Shane who is booked in for a Croc tour and heading out to Kakadu while my day consists of laundry, keeping Kitty cool and catching up on blogging.

The jet fighters taking off at the nearby RAAF base was constant overhead for most of the day and up until around 8.00pm, and the weather was beautiful until around 2.00pm and then it was back into the air conditioning.

After an interesting day out, Shane returned home around 5.00pm and we all headed out to one of our favourite places to take sunset pictures – Nightcliffe.  Unsure about what we might find due to a lot of low lying cloud we were blessed with a spectacular sunset well worth the 30 or so minute drive from the park.

When we were here in 2016 I managed to snap a photo of a guy riding a pushbike playing music from a boombox with a sulphur crested cockatoo sitting on the handlebars of the bike.  We looked for him again in 2019 but didn’t see him.  After joking about “I wonder if he’s still around” a short time later we heard music and spotted him.  Unfortunately this time no real cocky but a plastic version but it was funny to think here we are 6 years later and he’s still riding up and back along the foreshore doing his thing.

A traditional stop off at a Fannie Bay pizza shop for dinner and we headed back to camp.
